| 4-lbs Spayed Female Chihuahua |
Truffles is a wonderful one year old little 4-lbs red and tan female Chihuahua
who needed a very special home.
Truffles has started off her life
in hardship. Even though she was just a year old, she had already sustained an injury to her eye, which had damaged the iris of her left eye.
As this was not given any veterinary treatment it has left her blind. When we rescued her from out of the shelter system we took her straight to our Vet for a complete physical. Blood was drawn, of which the results showed her CK (Creatinine phosphokinase / creatinine kinase) levels were through the roof at 800, when 200 should have been the highest level. The CPK / CK are different
names for the same muscle enzyme that increases muscle damage. Our
Veterinarian feels that this is just a
temporary muscle fatigue issue. Her blood also showed
anemia and that she was fighting an infection, so this elevated level may be the result of those two issues. Due to
her unusual body shape and walk, we also took x-rays which shows a congenital curvature of the spine and bowing of the femurs
in her back legs. Her rib cage is also expanded but the internal organs all looked good, but showed poor Truffles was
also severely constipated. Through all fo this she was wonderful and loving, even though she must have felt awful.
Once her antibiotics were finished the CK levels returned back to normal. In 2 months she weighed in at a hefy 5-lbs 4-oz.
With her health stabalized she found a new furever home in Calgary Albert and is happily living with her fur-sister Ariel
and three fur-brothers, but she had definitely maintained her Diva status!
| Annie |
|
|
| 2 year old Spayed Female Chihuahua |
Annie, a 2 year old, spayed
female Pug mix (perhaps with Chihuahua) was rescued from a high kill shelter in May 2010. She had been a Mother many
times over and was thankful to be spayed! Annie soon proved to be a favourite of the rescue as she is an absolute doll
who made everyone fall in love with her due to her quiet, loving nature. This 12-lbs lady (she is big boned, as far as she
is concerned) has gone to a new home in Calgary, Alberta where she will have a new fur-brother and Pet Parents to shower her
with love and affection!

BANJO
a beautiful, fine-boned Italian Greyhound X Chihuahua mix (from our best guess) was rescued from a rural high-kill shelter
where he turned up as a stray. A compassionate Volunteer drove the 8 hours round trip to pull Banjo from
the shelter and drive him back to our reescue in Orange County. He was severely emaciated, weighing in at just under 5-lbs,
even with the good care from the shelter volunteers he needed to put on some much needed groceries to get to his ideal weight
of around 6.5-lbs. Banjo is very gentle, loving and somewhat shy and is now the playmate to Monty (Slim
Shady) an Alumi OCPoundhounds who was adopted last year by a wonderful Adopter living in Long Beach, CA.
| Tommy |

|
| 12-lbs, 3-Year Old Rattie X Jack Terrier Mix |
Tommy, a 3 year old Rat Terrier X Jack Russell Terrier
was rescued from a rural hihg-kill shelter after he had been with them for over 3-months. He was found living at a local
landfill, where he had been abandoned. Tommy is now living in Fraiser Lake, BC enjoying nature and spending his time
hiking and kayaking with his new Pet Parent! We are so happy for this great little guy as he will have a fantatic furever
home sharing it with another rescue dog Dublin!
| Pablo |
|
|
| 5-year old, 6-lbs Neutered Male Chocolate Chihuahua |
PABLO was recognized for being such an all around great guy - mellow,
quiet and loving and found his furever home! His new adoptive Pet Parents, whio adopted Dolche an OCPH alumni from last
year, could see past his premature grey and opened their hearts and home to him!! Pabo-licious, who loves to flip
over for a tummy-rub whenever he can get the chance, is now happily living in Silverado with Digby, and Dolche, two other
very lucky rescued shelter dogs!
Simon was rescued in September, 2008 from
the Harbour Shelter very thin, highly stressed, and on the euthanasia list after being turned in by his original Owners who
were moving. It was determined, after we rescued him, that he was deaf and lacked people and dog socialization
skills. After spending two months with a Foster-Mum who exposed him to a lot of social events and started him on signing,
he went in to a long-term foster home that continued worked with him at understanding doggie ASL. Simon waited a long
time to find his perfect fur-ever home, and his dearest wish has finally came true! Click On Simon's Picture to See More Photo's Password

| Tyler |
|
|
| 1 year old, 5-lbs Teacup Neutered Male Chihuahua |
| Fernando |
|
|
| 18 Month Old IG X Chi Mix |
Tiny Tyler was a "return" to the shelter after
being adopted but ended up with kennel cough so the original Adopters took him back as he was sick. Due to being a return
he was immediately at danger of euthanasia list as the shelter due to overcrowded. With his goofy overbite and pleaseing personality we took
him in to our rescue so he could recouperate, put on some much needed weight and relax while his perfect home came along.
After a while, his furever Pet Parents came along for both he and Fernando, who was rescued from a rural high-kill shelter,
where he ended up with an injury to his eye. Ferdie's eye was unable to be saved and was removed, and while recouperating
he and Tyler became firm friends, so it was wonderful that his disability could be overlooked and they could go to a furever
home together. Tyler is starting his training to become a little therapy dog for one of the local hospitals, where his
Pet-Mum works. With Tylers good-looks, quick tongue and pleasing personality he will bring many smiles to people who
have little else in their lives. Fernando is off camping and hiking and advocating "adopt don't shop while dogs
in shelters die" and both are enjoying life to the fullest.
| Hillary |
|
|
| 2-year old Spayed Female Medium Haired Pomeranian X Terrier Mix |
Hillary,
or as we affectionately call her Hilly-beans, was rescued from a high-kill LA shelter where she was not doing as she was so
terrified of the environment. She had not seen the kinder side of humans in her 2 year life span and was very nervous
about being everything, even being allowed inside a house. She would flatten herself outside the door when we first
brough her home. It took us a couple of day of coaxing and reassuring that she was able to come inside without anything
negative happening to her. She now bounces in and finds a dog bed to sit on and snuggke up with Branson, with whom she was
rescued at the same time. Hillary is a wonderful little girl, who is very playful with her foster fur-brothers and sisters
and loves to just sit on your lap and get some love and affection. With her pretty foxy looks (she curls up like a fox and
wraps ehr tail over her nose when sleeping) she has found a wonderful home with another resuced doggie, whoill be her fur-sister
in Alberta, Canada.

| Shih Tzu X Yorkie Mix |
Murphy was rescued in March on St. Patrick's Day from
the Riverside Shelter. He was very frightened in the shelter setting and did not do well on the
intake testing so he was turned over to a rescue to take him - and we did! After spending a month with a Foster-Mum
he ended up converting to a permanent family member due to his winning personality!
Sally, an 18-month old, 12-lbs,
spayed female Shih Tzu X Schnauser mix was rescued from the euthanasia list Christmas Eve of 2009 where she ended up due to
space reasons at the shelter. Sally now has a new lease on life, as she has been successfully
adopted by a wonderful, active semi-retired couple in Encinitas, CA. She will have a secure home without any worries
any more. Click on Sally's Picture to See More Photo's

| Rocky (Rock Star) |
|
|
| 5-lbs 5-oz Chihuahua X Frenchie Mix |
Rocky, an 18-month old, 6.5-lbs neutered male ended up at the shelter through no
fault of his own when his previous Owners home went in to foreclosure. Rocky was at the shelter for a month and gradually
became very sick. OCPoundhounds rescued him. Rocky's previous Owners never spent the time to properly socialize
him to the world at large, so our Trainer at PuppyIsGood is working with Rocky
to open up the world to him. From being initially a little reserved, he now welcomes people and goes up
to them for petting. His favourite pastimes are sunbathing, and playing with his furry toys, which he hides and than
a little while later finds and presents them to you as a gift! He is very handsome with a big, blocky head and wide
set eyes. He
has found the ideal Pet Parent who will continue to show him new experiences and understand he is a sensitive little guy,
under all the bravado. Rocky also has three little fur-Sisters with whom to hand out with in the garden. Click On Rocky's Picture to See More Photo's Password is adoptme
